Signs You Have an STD
While some of these diseases are extremely painful to experience untreated, others are almost always fatal if left untreated.
Early detection is best for any course of treatment, getting STD testing is important for the best outcome if STD infection has occurred.
| HIV/AIDS | Fatigue, fever, night sweats, and swollen glands Other opportunistic infections |

| syphilis | Chancre: an open sore, rash, hair loss Long Term: insanity, paralysis, death |

| Chlamydia | Males: short term: (NGU) burning sensation during urination, thick whitish pus discharge long term: sterility |
|
| Females: short term: pus in vagina (usually not painful) long term: PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) great pain in pelvic area, oviducts scarred and blocked (sterility) |

| genital herpes | Painful blister-like sores on or around the genitals and/or buttocks
Sores highly infectious Women may have sores in vagina and may not know it Sores can return monthly, after emotional stress, or after years of inactivity (virus hides in the nerves) |

| gonorrhea | Males: white discharge painful urination |
Very similar to chlamydia |
| Females: usually do not know until PID, which causes sterility |
